About Angela A. Zervos
Attorney Angela A. Zervos loves fighting for her clients, especially in court. “When you go up against an insurance company, they’ve got so much money, they think they can bully you,” she says, adding that companies compare notes on which lawyers will fight and which ones won’t.
“The personal injury world is dominated by the money and the power of the insurance companies,” she says. “Unless you can get in a courtroom where they don’t control the outcome, they’ll continue to pummel you.”
A native of upstate New York, Ms. Zervos grew up in Brooklyn, then moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1985. She first became interested in practicing law at sixteen, watching TV courtroom dramas. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management, then earned her law degree from Stetson University in 1996.
She soon earned her legal stripes in the courtroom, handling more than 30 criminal trials as a public defender with the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Clearwater, Florida. In 1998, she joined the civil firm of Yanchuck & Berman, P.A., honing her focus on personal injury cases. Ms. Zervos became a partner in the firm in 2001, then formed her own practice, Zervos & Calta, PLLC, in 2017 with colleague Lauren Calta.
Before opening her own practice, Ms. Zervos settled and obtained jury trial verdicts totaling in excess of $80 million. She is a lifetime member of the Multi-Million and Million-Dollar Advocates Forum, due to obtaining verdicts or settlements in excess of $2 million.
Her practice represents victims and families of automobile crashes, motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, bicycle wrecks, wrongful death actions, slips and falls, traumatic brain injuries, and medical malpractice. Since 2002, she’s won more than 90 percent of her cases against companies such as State Farm, Nationwide, GEICO, Farmers Insurance, Allstate, USAA, Liberty Mutual, Mercury, and Auto Owners Insurance. The majority of those victories involved jury verdicts that exceeded an insurance company’s coverage limits — and resulted in those companies paying her fees.
Ms. Zervos is a member of the Florida Bar, Clearwater Bar Association, American Association for Justice, Florida Justice Association, and the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association. She is admitted to practice in federal court for the Middle District of Florida.
Ms. Zervos is honored to earn an “AV – Preeminent” rating, the highest possible rating from the leading global legal network Martindale-Hubbell. The National Trial Lawyers Association includes her among the Top 100 civil trial lawyers in Florida.
When not in the courtroom, Ms. Zervos enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends and two children. She prides herself on strong and fluid communication with each client, making herself available in person, by phone, or through e-mail for whatever issues and concerns arise — and for giving them a voice when they need it most.
