The lawyers at Zervos & Calta, PLLC are more than just attorneys at law, they are also avid philanthropists. Angela Zervos and Lauren Calta have been dedicated to giving and helping those in need since they partnered together to create the personal injury law firm that we know today as Zervos & Calta, PLLC
A Brief History:
In early August 2019, Zervos & Calta, PLLC launched a massive food and supplies fundraiser for the Shepherd Center. The Shepherd Center “provides compassion, basic support, and assistance to those in our community who need it most. We focus on families, the elderly, the homeless, and others in need. We feed the hungry, clothe the poor, give hope, empower to seek independence, and provide social support.” (tscenter.org)
The fundraiser rules were very simple: bring in items from the list of items needed by The Shepherd Center and receive raffle tickets towards winning one of thirteen prizes. Every 4 items would grant you 1 raffle ticket. The law firm of Zervos & Calta, PLLC sponsored the top 7 main prizes, which were: $750 Carnival Cruise gift card, $100 Southwest Airlines gift card, $50 Amazon gift card, $25 Starbucks gift card, $25 Outback Steakhouse gift card, $25 Walgreens gift card, and a $25 AMC Theaters gift card. The other 6 prizes were received from other local businesses in Tarpon Springs. Some examples of those prizes are: a free massage, a $50 gift certificate, and even a free stress-reducing hypnosis session!
Come the day of launch, we were all very nervous and excited to see the turnout. Our first donation was from a very giving woman that donated over 150 items, who at first did not want any raffle tickets rewarded for her items, she just wanted to help people in need. She deserved to get her name in the pot to win something, so after some convincing, she went ahead and filled out her raffle tickets for the drawing. The beautiful thing is that she wasn’t the only one who tried to refuse the raffle tickets. In the coming days, more people brought in goods, and a good percentage of them stated they didn’t want raffle tickets. Of course, we let them know they didn’t have to, but they deserved to fill them out to win something. That type of giving and kindness is what this whole fundraiser was about. Even though there were very juicy prizes, people took time out of their day, spent their hard-earned money, and gave to a beautiful cause without even caring about winning the prizes.
At the end of the fundraiser (a 2-week period), attorneys Angela Zervos and Lauren Calta took to Facebook Live to announce the winners. Our law firm raised over +1,500 items for The Shepherd Center! That’s over +1,500 items for people to feed their kids and themselves, bathe comfortably, and help get through another day of hardship.
The law firm of Zervos & Calta, PLLC plans on donating to The Shepherd Center’s new Hope Center. A new facility being built which will give people that are struggling in our community access to showers, laundry machines, mental health counselors, outreach counselors, computers, and food.
Thank you to everyone that participated, we are truly humbled and excited that this turned out so beautifully. If you want to watch attorneys Angela Zervos & Lauren Calta talk about the fundraiser and announce the winners, click this link to go to our Facebook page:
